Dr. Gene Getz is here at Camp this week. His topic of study during chapels is the 12 apostles. Only there’s 7 chapels, so we’re only going over 7 apostles.
This morning he talked about Nathanael. I don’t remember the big points he made (something about shivering and not feeling my toes), but I do remember something we read, that stuck with me and has been convicting me all day.
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
I think there’s a very good lesson here about how I’m to live. Notice Philip didn’t talk Nathanael’s ear off about why he was questioning or how he needed to ‘just believe’, he simply said, “come and see.”
How often do people challenge me to show them Christ, and I talk their ears off? More often then I say, “come and see.”
